Private Transportation Etiquette – What to Know When You Ride

Private transportation etiquette for travelling When it comes to public transportation, everyone seems to have a pretty firm grasp of proper etiquette. However, in the world of private transport, there are often many questions about what is appropriate.

Whether it’s a corporate transport event or a private party, there are a few simple rules you should keep in mind.

Don’t Touch The Doors

You have a professional driver who will let you in and out of the vehicle at your stops. They will let you know when it is safe to step out of the vehicle. Your passengers should never lunge for the doors or try to open them before the chauffeur is ready. Remember, your chauffeur will also handle your luggage, so there’s no need for you to go packing the trunk.

Know The Size Of Your Party

The car we send will largely depend on the size of the party you give us during the reservation process. If this number changes, we need to know right away. Otherwise there may not be enough room for all of your passengers. There are strict laws regarding the number of passengers we can have in any vehicle, so it’s never safe to assume that you can just squeeze one more in at the last second.

Slide, Don’t Climb

Climbing over people in the back seat of a private car is a big no-no. You should always let the highest ranking member of your team, or the VIP, get in first. Then everyone else should slide in and fill the seats from the rear right working toward the front. Get into the car and sit down, and then slide over to your designated seat, rather than climbing over one another.

Be Courteous to the Driver

Your driver is a professional and they are there to do a job. However, there are some things your driver is not allowed to do. Remember to stay seated, and follow all rules. In addition, maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle as your driver may not have time to have it cleaned before their next fare. Lastly, try to provide your driver with precise addresses if you are making multiple stops along your route. Tipping is always appreciated.

These four tips should give you enough information to take private transportation without feeling lost or embarrassed. The biggest thing to remember is to be mindful of the other people you are riding with, including the driver himself. Simply sit back and enjoy your ride, and let the chauffeur handle all the details.
